Weston   1848, October 30

We left Bodelwyddan & came to Weston. The Clives left too, & Mr. Clive & Robert travelled in the same carriage with us as far as Chester. Mary also came home from Cotsbrook. We found Georgey returned from Willey. George has been here again but went to Woburn today. Mr. & Mrs. Orlando Gunning & Di came.

Weston   1848, October 31

A very bad day. But Mrs. Gunning & I took a walk in the afternoon. Orlando rode over in the course of the afternoon to pay a morning visit. We thought we would have some nuts throw in the fire being All Hallow e'een and finding there were none in the house nor in the garden, we sent far & wide for some, at last there came some from the rectory. & we burnt a great many couples. Some burst & jumped beautifully. A great deal of singing both in the morning & evening.
